FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT EXTINA® FOAM

Q: I have seborrheic dermatitis on different parts of my body. Can I use EXTINA® Foam on all of them?
A: EXTINA® Foam is a prescription in a ketoconazole foam that can be used to treat seborrheic dermatitis wherever it appears on your scalp, body, and face.1,2 That means you may not have to juggle multiple prescriptions to treat this skin condition. And EXTINA® Foam comes in a foam that is easy to apply and, in a post-study survey, was preferred by patients who have had previous experience using other types of topical vehicles like gels, shampoos, creams, and ointments.2
Q: I lead a very active lifestyle. How does EXTINA® Foam fit in?
A: EXTINA® Foam is an ideal treatment choice for patients aged 12 years and older with seborrheic dermatitis.1
Q: What has been the experience of other patients who have used EXTINA® Foam?
A: In a post-study survey, nearly all the patients who had prior experience using foams and had used EXTINA® Foam (95%) said that they would more likely stick with a 4-week, twice-daily treatment with a foam formulation versus shampoos, gels, creams, or ointments.2 This is important because when patients are prescribed a vehicle they prefer, they may be more likely to use it as prescribed.3
Q: Are there any side effects to using EXTINA® Foam?
A: Ketoconazole, the active ingredient in EXTINA® Foam, has been used for many years to treat seborrheic dermatitis and other skin conditions. In clinical studies with EXTINA® Foam, the most common side effects of EXTINA® Foam included application site burning and application site reaction.
Q: How soon will I see results with EXTINA® Foam?
A: In a clinical study, some patients showed results in as little as 2 weeks, with complete or nearly complete clearance in a majority of patients by Week 4 of treatment.1 Not all patients respond in the same amount of time. Even if your seborrheic dermatitis clears quickly, you should not stop applying EXTINA® Foam unless your doctor advises you to do so. Generally, EXTINA® Foam is prescribed to be applied twice daily for 4 weeks.
